How to Dispose of Medicine


In Colorado we have medication collection boxes. These are drop off locations where you can take unused and expired over-the-counter and prescription medications.

Our local drop-off locations are:

Eagle- Eagle County Sheriff's Office: 885 Chambers Ave Eagle, CO 81632

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8-5 (closed holidays)

Avon- Avon Police Department: 60 Buck Creek Rd Avon, CO 81620

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8-5 (closed holidays)

Vail- Vail Police Department: 75 South Frontage Road West Vail, CO 81657

Hours: Mon-Sat, 7-7 (closed holidays)

Edwards- Vail Valley Pharmacy: 105 Edwards Village Blvd, Suite G-107 Edwards, CO

Hours: Mon-Fri 9-7, Sat 9-6 (closed holidays)

Dropping off medicine at these locations is the best way to ensure non harmful disposing but if that is not an option, another way is to follow these steps provide by the FDA to dispose of the medication at home on your own:
